A data
collection device housed in a rugged plastic enclosure with display,
keypad, memory, PC connectivity and rechargeable long life battery
makes it an ideal choice to operate in remote places to collect
data.
The
unit communicates with a contact less Read & Write Smart Card or
Token mounted over a Truck or vehicle. Token is a tiny electronic
chip, sealed in a water-resistant stainless steel tamper-proof enclosure,
of the size of a coin.
Each
card or Token may be pre-programmed once through a PC and software
to store Vehicle ID-number, its weight, and other useful data.
At
Source, a Token is touched to the unit or a contact less Smart Card
is flashed. The unit reads Vehicle ID-number, its weight, and other
data from token or card. The user enters certain details like trip
code, route code, material code, material weight, loading flag and
other details through keypad. These details with the Location-ID,
date and time are transferred to token or card and carried by the
vehicle to the next destination. A copy is also stored in unit as
a record for cross checking them at the end of the day to prevent
any tampering of mobile data.
At
destination, the token or card is read by similar new unit and validations
performed. New details like unloading flag, date and time of arrival
of Truck or vehicle and new trip code etc. are entered through keypad.
These details are again saved on token or card and unit as a new
record.
These
records from all units and all tokens or cards are transferred to
a PC . They are then processed with a software to compute total
miles covered, time taken, the net weight of material a vehicle
carried, the fuel consumed and payment to vehicle owners or contractors
for a day or week or month.
